Lessons and Programs

t Once Upon a Horse, we teach much more than just riding lessons. We offer a complete course in horsemanship. We believe that in order to have a safe and rewarding experience with horses, it is important to learn more than just how to get on and ride. 

Students have the opportunity to learn all aspects of horsemanship including safe handling, grooming, parts of the horse, care of tack and equipment, general horse care, preparing for competition, and of course, how to ride well.

 Students will earn certificates of accomplishment as they work through levels of difficulty. Each of the levels, White - true beginner, Yellow - beginner with some experience, Red - intermediate, and Blue - advanced, will lead the student through the performance of practical riding skills and horsemanship knowledge. This program is suitable for children and adults.

  Students will be recognized with certificates at Once Upon a Horse events during the year, posted at the barn and on this website.
